Yes We Can…
We are in the presence of history being made. It’s exciting to think about! Years from now, when kids in history class learn about the first African-American President of the United States, we can give a first hand account. Political leanings aside, we are a part of something big. This is a huge step for our great Nation.
Barack Obama is a great leader. I’m excited to see what the future holds for this Nation. There are many people who believe that he isn’t cut out to lead this country…
We are up against the conventional thinking that says your ability to lead as President comes from longevity in Washington or proximity to the White House. But we know that real leadership is about candor, and judgment, and the ability to rally Americans from all walks of life around a common purpose – a higher purpose.
And he has those things. He has an uncanny ability to rally people around a cause, and he seems to have such a confident and calming nature about him. This is the attitude that needs to be projected not only to the U.S., but the world! His presence has already made huge jumps in the repairing of our reputation to the rest of the world. Our foreign relations will grow by leaps and bounds. Think of how much more we can accomplish with the whole world working together as a team.
People have tried to make this election about issues that aren’t relevant to the Presidential Office. I can’t tell you how many emails I’ve received that don’t pertain to social issues or campaign platforms at all. They only want to point out a persons race, (supposed) spiritual practices, age, gender, etc.
The choice in this election is not between regions or religions or genders. It’s not about rich versus poor; young versus old; and it is not about black versus white.
It’s about the past versus the future.
The future. It’s something that I’ve never really thought about until now — at least in regards to our government. This is big. For the first time, I find myself with a renewed confidence in our country and the people that comprise this Nation to do something. It’s time for us all to become involved; it’s time for me to start becoming active in local politics; it’s time for us to rally around a country that we love and long to see prosper in the coming years; it’s time to be active, because voting for a President isn’t the end….it’s only the beginning.
This victory alone is not the change we seek — it is only the chance for us to make that change.
