Fire Wade Phillips…
The season as a whole has been so depressing. Outside of game 1 versus the Browns, we haven’t looked like the dominant team on the field. Even in our wins we barely squeak by — pulling out miracle wins against crappy teams (like the Bengals). This team is playing without confidence. We look like we expect the Super Bowl rings to just be handed over to us on a silver platter. If we can just build a scary enough team, others will just forfeit their games making us the champions by default.
Well guess what…no one is scared of us — especially not now.
We need a motivator. Someone on the sidelines that will rip into our offensive line when they let our franchise quarterback get hit 30 times in one game. Someone who will grab our defensive backs by the face mask and get them to glue themselves to people like Larry Fitzgerald. Someone who will light up a ref when the call isn’t even remotely in our favor. I need to see someone on the sideline that is PISSED OFF!
That someone is not Wade Phillips. He’s to soft. He kinda reminds me of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, except he never gets angry. Sure he can jump up and down when we win — like a 10 year old who found a dollar — but he doesn’t motivate this team. He’s not stoking the fire. He’s not our guy. He was a good transition man for last year, but not now. His services are no longer needed.
So who then?
I’m not sure Jason Garrett is the answer. Bill Cowher maybe? He would look good on that sideline. I think he could bring the fire back to Big D.
Here’s to dreaming.
